Memorial Event.
A Special event was held by Worcester model car club In Memory of Matt Jones and avid racer who sadly passed away after a Car Accident in January 2009. Matt also raced at Marstons LRP cup and would do anything to help any fellow racers where he could.
So A few of Marstons Members , Andy Bird, Ritchie Thorn, Charlotte Bird, Allan Meredith, Cameron Cummin went along to support the event and represent Marstons Club. The carpet was very different to Marstons and we all stuggled to get the same grip levels the Worcester guys had. With our limited tyre choices in our pitt box here's how the racing turned out.
In the 19T heats Andy Bird and Ritchie Thorn struggled initially to Get the necessary grip and clean runs due to the mixed ability of drivers in their heat stopping them making good Progress. Andy's Car started off well in practice but at the start of the 1st Heat got the rear of his car smashed into heavily and couldn't get the car to handle right from that point onwards and suffered all day to get a good qualifier. This mean't Andy dropped to Pole on the 'B' Final but managed to Win it with Allan Meredith in 2nd Place and Cameron finishing in 4th - Well Done all.
Ritchie however kept pushing hard and qualified 2nd on the grid in the 'A' final. He won the 1st Leg but got tagged in the 2nd Leg dropping him to 2nd Place. Despite this Ritchie's driving was true to form and he quickly made up the lost ground on the leader recovering back to 1st place. Ritchie kept in front for a few laps but got tagged by a back marker dropping him back to 2nd. Well Done Ritchie on Coming 2nd in the 'A'..
In the 13.5 Class Andy and Charlotte entered cars, Andy Qualified on Pole in the 'A' and Charlotte on Pole in the 'B'. Andy came 2nd in the 1st leg despite being tagged in the rear on the first corner dropping him down to last and pushed hard to evently recover to 2nd. He then won the 2nd Leg making him the winner of the 13.5 Class. Well Done Andy. Charlotte finished third in the B Final.
Also speaking with Ross at Worcester he has suggested with have an interclub league along with some other clubs so watch this space !!!
